Originally a Hollywood Regency style home in an elegant Mulholland corridor neighborhood gets a thoroughly contemporary lux makeover. Almost every interior wall was moved to reconfigure what was awkwardly divided space with cramped ceilings into an open airy luxury living experience. We relocated the master bathroom and closet to create a light-filled suite, maintaining the original fireplace and adding an exterior balcony to take advantage of sweeping views. We added ensuite bathrooms to each of the three upstairs kids’ rooms as well as added a guest suite with a private shower and pool access. The most impact, however, came from removing the clunky, awkward stairs and dropped ceilings downstairs, and replacing them with floating steel stairs, open dining and a completely new kitchen. Outside the kitchen we added a walk-up bar and barbecue area for epic entertaining.
